Children’s Dental Health Month
February is packed full of awareness. Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and Heart Health Month are among the few more well-known topics we celebrate. In the U.S., there are, perhaps, a few less known categories. Our Orange dentist and staff particularly love Children’s Dental Health Month. But, before we discuss your children’s dental hygiene, what are other ways can we celebrate this February?
National Grapefruit Month
Grapefruit, and all citrus fruits, are loaded with vitamin C. Our Orange dentist recommends getting your daily recommended serving of Vitamin C to reduce the risk of periodontal disease and to strengthen tooth enamel.
Fabulous Florida Strawberry Month
Not to be outdone by the citrus industry, it seems February is the month to indulge in fabulous strawberries. It is probably no coincidence that strawberry awareness falls during the month in which we celebrate Valentine’s Day. Chocolate covered strawberries get their chance in the spotlight, after all.
Chocolate Lover’s Month
Well, this is no surprise. Valentine’s Day is ranks third in chocolate sales in the U.S. after Christmas and Easter. If you must celebrate with chocolate, our Orange dentist suggests eating only dark chocolate. Dark chocolate contains helpful antioxidants and less sugar than other types of chocolate. Just remember to brush and floss after consuming sugary sweets.
National Adopt a Rabbit Month
Hmmm. Well, rabbits are cute and cuddly. If we look at their diet, it’s a great reminder to us humans to eat our leafy green vegetables which are rich in Vitamins A, C, and K. These are all great for your oral health.
Library Lovers Month
This is a great time to promote reading with your child and tie it in with oral health. Grab a couple books about brushing and flossing and add them to your nighttime routine. When kids understand the importance of great oral hygiene, they learn a life lesson that will carry them through adulthood.
How Will You Celebrate?
With so many ways to celebrate in the month of February, you’re bound to find something right up your alley. Our Orange dentist and staff will be celebrating National Children’s Dental Health. Schedule your children’s regular Dental Exam and celebrate with us.
Celebrate oral health at home. Take the time to talk with children about the importance of brushing and flossing. Starting a great oral health regimen at an early age is the perfect way to instill life-long skills. Let your young children see you brush and floss as they’ll likely want to mimic your actions.
